Peter Altenberg (1859 – 1919, eigentlich Richard Engländer) war ein österreichischer Schriftsteller. Eine lebensgroße Figur von ihm hat heute einen Stammplatz im Wiener Café Central.

First of all I would like to say superb blog!
I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your head before writing.
I have had a hard time clearing my thoughts in getting
my thoughts out there. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes
are generally lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips?
Kudos!

A quick question – but no quick answer! But there are several things you could try.
1. Read a book by Natalie Goldberg. For instance „Writing down the Bones“. Ore any other book about Creative Writing.
2. Before you start writing, read one or more pages from a good or perfect writer. That may change your style.
3. The best way to start ist to start. If you dont’t find the right beginning for the text you have in mind, write anything else.
4. The first sentence you write down must not be automaticaly the first sentence of your text when it’s writen! Most writers go later back to the beginning of their story and check the first sentence again. And change ist, if necessary.
5. Join a group of authors. Or book lessons.
6. Read, read, read! Learn from the best.
7. Write, write, write! The more you wrote, the easier it is to start.
8. Clear your head with anything else. Cleaning is good.
Wish you all the best and please let me know how it worked out for you!
